Keane Morgan wouldn’t return any of my calls or texts, and I was pissed as hell about it. I didn’t want to drive from Seattle to L.A. with the guy any more than he wanted to drive with me, but I had no frickin’ choice in the matter–at least, not if I wanted to use his brother Dax’s coveted parking spot at UCLA.

Okay, so it turned out Keane was objectively gorgeous, and, fine, pretty funny, too. But did he have to be so damned in love with himself? I mean, jeez, the cocky way he flashed those dimples was just so orchestrated. And, honestly, what kind of guy uses the phrase “baby doll” with a straight face? Oh, that’s right: the kind of guy who’s a male stripper.

Yup, the cocky jerk turned out to be Seattle’s answer to Magic Mike, a stripper known as “Ball Peen Hammer”–which meant Keane Morgan was emphatically not the kind of guy I’d ever fall for.

Not. At. All.

No freakin’ way.

Well, until Keane convinced me to fall for him, that is.

Which I did.

Hard.

Excerpt

As they exchange information, I make my way to the end of my aisle and loop into theirs, not taking my eyes off Baby Face the whole time. Shit. This dude’s hunting Maddy so hard, it’s making my blood boil. Jesus, he’s going full-throttle rifle on Maddy’s ass right now, completely foregoing his crossbow altogether.

When I reach the two of them in the middle of their aisle, I shuffle past the dude and stand next to Maddy, shoulder to shoulder, and then, on a sudden impulse, put my arm around her shoulders and squeeze her tight, making her wobble in place at the unexpected jolt to her balance. “Hey, sis,” I say, squeezing her like a rag doll. “You totally fell down on your candy-acquiring duties.”

“I know. I’m sorry.” She subtly wiggles out of my grasp. “Brian and I got into this hilarious argument about the best candy bar of all- time, and—”

“And I’m totally right,” Brian says, cutting her off, and they both chuckle at some inside joke.

“No, I’m totally right,” Maddy corrects.

Brian smiles at her. “I’ll actually be down in L.A. in a month. How ’bout I call you then?”

“Great.”

“Nice to meet you, man,” Brian says, looking at me. He nods but doesn’t put out his hand.

I nod back.

Brian strolls away, buys a Snickers bar and a can of Red Bull, and leaves with a little wave to Maddy.

The minute he’s out the door, Maddy takes a giant step away from me, her face etched with annoyance. “What was that?” she asks.

“What?”

“That weird thing you just did?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Maddy puts on an exaggerated scowl, like she’s Hulk Hogan eying an opponent. “’Hey, Brian,’” she says in a low voice, clearly intending to imitate me but sounding more like Arnold Schwarzenegger imitating Maddy imitating me. “’I’m Maddy Milliken’s bodyguard and I’m going to beat you the hell up now,’” she adds.

“What are you talking about?” I say, chuckling.

Maddy pauses, assessing me, and finally shrugs. “Nothing. I guess I imagined it.”

“Imaged what?”

“Your weird… I dunno… vibe.”

“Oh, well, yeah. I was worried about you.”

“Worried about me? I was standing in a minimart, buying candy. Pretty low-risk activity, I’d say.”

“Uh, you absolutely were not standing in a minimart, buying candy—you totally fell down on that job, dude. You were standing in a minimart, getting picked up by a douche. And second of all—”

“What?”

Shit. What the fuck am I doing? I’ve got to stop this shit right now. “Don’t get riled up, baby doll,” I say in my most soothing voice. “All I’m saying is you took so damned long in here, I started thinking maybe the store was getting robbed or you’d fallen into the toilet or something.”

Maddy twists her mouth. “Brian didn’t seem the least bit douchey to me.”

I shrug. “What gave you the impression he’s a douche?”

“Just a figure of speech. So are you gonna do the job I hired you to do or not?” I motion to the candy rack. “‘Cause based on your performance thus far, you’re totally fired.”

“And I wasn’t getting ‘picked up,’” Maddy says, her tone full of indignation. “Brian’s brother goes to UCLA. Can’t I talk to a helpful, nice guy without it being some sort of a sleazy pick-up?”

“Sure you can. However, in this instance, you were talking to a helpful, nice guy who was picking you up so he can bone the living fuck outta ya.”

“Keane.” Maddy’s cheeks burst with color. “Don’t say that. Oh my god. You’re insane. Brian was just being helpful, that’s all.”

“Yeah, so he can bone the living fuck outta ya.”

“Stop saying that. Please. It’s offensive and absolutely not true. This topic of conversation is officially over.”

Review (5 Stars)

***I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review!***

This book was chock full of laughter, sarcasm, witticisms, irreverent humor, swoon worthy men, salacious and scandalous sexy times, insane family texts and nicknames, love, drama and heartbreak waiting to happen. There were some parts that really frustrated and annoyed me, some that I didn’t care for (mainly some stuff to do with Keane’s past), and some that I just wanted to say WTF? In all of that though, there were some “quiet moments of magic” that stole my heart.

I’m not going to lie, when I first started reading this book I didn’t like Keane at all. When I read about him briefly in the Club Series, I was so ecstatic to read his story, and then when I got it and started to read it I worried I wouldn’t be able to connect to it. I was wrong. It did take me a bit, because there were certainly some points where I was scratching my head where Peen was concerned. I just couldn’t understand his POV, and there were times I felt like I was reading about a teenage boy rather than an adult male, but I finally got used to the way he communicated with others and he started to grow on me. Did I find some of his slang and phrases repetitive and annoying at times, yes, but I was able to overlook that because his character was well developed over the course of the story. I went from seeing him as an immature teenage boy to a man who had a lot of depth to him. Someone who had been heartbroken over the loss of a dream, someone afraid to take a chance on a future full of happiness lest he be let down again, and someone who used humor and his “ebullient charm” to keep others from seeing too deeply inside him. What I found at the end was a man who inspired others, who was loyal and caring, and who wasn’t afraid to go after what he wanted with both hands.

Now Maddy…I loved her from the very beginning. She was my hero. I saw so much of myself in her it was a bit frightening. It’s like she was written just for me. I loved that she was not afraid to speak her mind to Peen, and even though he was absolutely ridiculous at times, she was able to roll with the punches. She looked past the smirks, blue hair, hot bod and “pleasure induced comments” that Peen was slinging and saw the real man beneath. She found someone who she was comfortable with right from the beginning and could just be herself around. She was brave, brilliant and funny. I loved that she was sweet yet sassy. She was the perfect heroine.

This story worked for me overall. I loved the build up to the romance. This was definitely a rom-com story meant to make you laugh and roll your eyes (Maddy is the queen at this). Sometimes the humor was over the top and sometimes it was subtle, but the best part was the romance. Maddy brought out the best in Keane. She pushed him to delve deeper, to search for more, to truly understand and care about someone (other than his family and “wifey Z”). She allowed him to explore new aspects of himself, without judging him in the process, which made him a better person overall. He wasn’t just a male stripper all about the p*ssy, though at one point he embraced that role, but a man who was searching for something he couldn’t understand. Until Maddy.

This is another fantastic story from the author. She has her characters nailed, the writing always flows effortlessly, and the stories are always heartwarming, heartbreaking and hilarious. Which is a stunning combination in itself. Plus she always writes a story with a hidden meaning in it. Something that really gets you thinking. Don’t miss out on this story! I wholeheartedly recommend this book!!!

The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.

I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.

He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.

So I told him to mind his own damn business—his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business—and went back to my miserable date.

When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.

I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room.  Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.

When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.

But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us—telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood.

My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.

When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.

I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people?

Then again…

What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?

EXCERPT

“Sorry, I wasn’t looking where—”

I froze.

The sight of Chase standing there was almost enough to knock me over. I’d secretly hoped to see him, yet never thought I actually would. What are the chances? I did a double take, sure I was seeing things. But it was him all right, in the flesh. And what flesh it is. Standing there shirtless and wet—wearing nothing but a pair of low-slung swim trunks—he had me stuttering. Literally.

“Ch…Ch…Ch—” I couldn’t get the word out.

Of course, Chase didn’t miss a beat. He smirked and leaned in. “You do a cute train impression, Buttercup.”

He remembers me.

I shook my head, attempting to snap myself out of it. But it was no use. He was so tall, and I was so short, I had no choice but to stare at his body. Water trickled down his abs. I was mesmerized watching it speed up and slow down as it crossed the rippled lines of his six-pack. Damn.

I cleared my throat and finally spoke. “Chase.”

I was pretty freaking proud of myself for getting that much out. He had a towel slung around his neck and lifted it to dry off his dripping hair, revealing even more flesh. His pectoral muscles were carved and perfect. And—oh, my God…is that… Holy shit. It is. His nipples were cold and erect, and one of them was….was…pierced.

Review (5+ Stars):

***I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review!***

Oh my word!!! This book was ah-freaking-mazing! I loved every minute and was incredibly sad to reach the end. I need more of Chase and Reese! They were sheer perfection!

This was one of the most entertaining and funny stories I have had the pleasure of reading. Vi Keeland is a master at captivating readers with stories that make you laugh, swoon, cry, get you hot, make you jealous and leave you needing more. I have come to count on a certain level of writing and character depth from her stories, and she never disappoints. The stories are always fresh, lovable, and they reel you in. I find myself flipping the pages as quickly as I can because I need to know what will happen.

The way that Reese and Chase meet is just perfect! I don’t think that I could have handled it with such dignity. They just clicked so well together. I love how easy and natural they were with one another, and the sexual tension was through the roof.

Chase is such a delight. He is super sexy, charming, intelligent, down-to-earth and funny! Did I mention he has piercings and tattoos covered by gorgeous custom fit suits! Can it get any better than that? It can. On top of that he is incredibly sweet, spontaneous, generous, thoughtful and protective.

Reese is equally smart, charming and likable. She is someone that I would strive to be like and want as my friend. She isn’t afraid to take the bull by the horns. She is confident and hardworking, strong and loyal. She also knows how to use her assets to the best of her abilities, and boy can she hook a man!

I really just loved absolutely everything about this book! It was both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time, which is a rare combination. Chase and Reese have made it on to my best books list, and I can only hope we get another glimpse of them in the future! A MUST READ!!!!

Excerpt:

“What’s wrong?” I ask.

“Just a little tight, is all.”

I inhale through my nose. I have to shove the pregnancy stuff to the back corner of my brain. We’re a long way off from Olivia letting me pump her full of my semen anyhow, so why am I stressing about it now? The first step is showing her how compatible we can be.

And that starts now.

I smile at her. “Sit tight. I’ll be right back.”

I grab a bottle of massage oil from the hall closet and return to the living room. The soft jazz music seems to float in the air, creating a pleasant buzz in the atmosphere.

Olivia’s eyes widen when I rejoin her on the couch, but she doesn’t question me.

“I’ll give you a massage,” I suggest. “Take off your sweatshirt.”

Olivia flinches, chewing on her lip while she watches me. “But I’m not wearing anything underneath.”

That’s the idea. “I promise not to look.”

She hesitates for another second, then turns her back to me and pulls her shirt over her head, dropping it to the floor. The creamy canvas in front of me is one to be admired. The twin dimples in her lower back near the band of her leggings would make lesser men weep.

I warm a few drops of oil between my palms and rest my hands on her stiff shoulders.

“Relax. Okay?”

Review (5 Stars):

***I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review!***

I was really excited when this book showed up on my Kindle. After the cliffhanger in the first book I had to know what was going to happen. I needed more Noah and Olivia. I got the answers I was looking for, although it was not what I was expecting.

I liked seeing the progression of their relationship from people who felt they had to commit to one another just to save a company to people who actually grew to care about one another. I felt a much stronger connection to Noah initially. It’s not that I didn’t like Olivia, because I did, but she just seemed so closed-off and unapproachable. I appreciated the other side we got to see of her in Vol 2 and I really began to like her. With Noah’s help she became someone who was more confident, open-minded and affectionate. She seemed more down-to-earth and fixated on other things besides just business.

Noah continued to grow on me. It was so obvious that he really cared about Olivia. He really took the time to appreciate her unique sense of self. He gave her space but pursued her like she was the ultimate prize. He was romantic, witty and charming. Exactly the man that Olivia needs in her life. There was really just one issue I had with him that royally pissed me off, even though I got why he did it, but it still made me sad to read it. I can’t get in to it without spoiling the story so I won’t. Let’s just say that I am especially eager to read how their story ends. I’m not sure how you can come back from that, but I can’t wait to see how he tries. Knowing Noah, he will bend over backwards to make Olivia see how much he loves her and how he will always have her back!

The only other issue I had with this book was the use of the word “pet” or “petting/petted” in a sexual situation. To me, that is like reading the word moist in a sex scene. It’s a no-go, and on my top 5 most hated words in a sex scene. However much that word bothered me, and sometimes ruins a scene for me, I still definitely recommend this sweet, sexy story!

But as the Fae Prince begins to close in on Ivy, intent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld, Ivy is running out of options. If she doesn’t figure out who she can trust—and fast—it’s not only her heart that will be torn apart, but civilization itself.

EXCERPT:

I lifted my right hand, reaching for my iron stake out of instinct, even though I knew it would do no good against the prince.

“You shouldn’t do that.” His voice was deep with what reminded me of an English accent. “I know you want to, but it would be very, very unwise of you, Ivy.”

My hand twitched.

Creepy Prince smiled slightly. “Your friend has been very helpful.”

That got my hackles up. I slid my sunglasses onto my forehead and forced my tone to stay calm and level. “I’m sure she has. Speaking of Val, happen to know where I can find her?”

His lips curled in a semblance of a smile as he stepped closer. The prince was tall, taller than Ren, who was pushing six foot two. My entire back stiffened as I forced myself to hold my ground, even though every instinct demanded that I run and run super fast, because he had almost killed me once before. Correction. He would have definitely killed me if he hadn’t realized what I was and had, I guessed, healed me.

“I’ve been waiting for you,” he said, instead of answering my question, his pale blue eyes fixed on mine.

My hand curled into a useless fist. “That is extremely creepy to hear.”

That cold smile returned. “Why don’t we talk? There are seats across the way.”

“Yeah, that’s not going to happen.”

The slow smile increased but never reached his eyes. “Oh, I know it is.”

Fine hairs rose on my arms.

“What exactly can you do right now?” he said in the same coldly polite voice. “Refuse me?” Creepy Prince laughed, and it wasn’t a bad sound. Again, it was something that was just cold, as if he were mimicking what a human would do. “You can’t.”

“I can.” My palm itched to grab the thorn stake secured under my pant leg, but I held still. I might be reckless, but I wasn’t stupid.

“Really? I will have to beg to differ on that. You see, humans surround us. So many of them, and I have an extraordinary appetite.” His eyes appeared to glimmer as his gaze slithered from the top of my curly head down to my toes. “A rather impressive appetite for many, many things.”

“Okay. First off, ew.” My lip curled. “Secondly, I don’t want to hear about any of your appetites.”

One dark eyebrow rose. “Oh, but you should know that I could kill twenty of these humans in less than five seconds and feed on the rest, leaving them to believe that it was this little red-headed girl who murdered these innocent people.” His voice dropped even lower as he leaned in and icy air brushed my cheek. “You deny me this, those lives will be on your hands, little bird.”

Anger flushed hotly as my eyes met his. There wasn’t a single part of me that doubted anything he said. He had me. God, I hated to admit it, but he had me.
